We are too easily distracted...

Today, during a webinar, I learned about the mind and how most of us lack focus when it comes to actually processing the necessary information and general learning.  We are too easily distracted...      
Using smart devices for unproductive purposes have serious negative effects on our overall concentration. While smartphones and related mobile technologies are recognized as flexible and powerful tools that, when used with caution, can enhance human cognition and even make you rich, there is also a growing perception that habitual use of these devices can have a negative and lasting impact on user's abilities to think, memorize, concentrate, and adapt their emotions.                                                                  
How long can you read a book, an article, watch a series, documentary or movie without pausing and looking at your phone or so-called smart tablets? Scrolling through popular apps like news, twitter, snapchat, instagram, facebook or what have you.                              
It takes a short time, in fact, extremely short time before you feel that compulsion, that magnetism and urge to reach out and look at your phone or browse through apps. If you try to resist, your mind can trick you into thinking you want to check the time. Just so you can check for notifications. And you usually only see and read half of them. The mind doesn't learn to process them all. This is an addiction and a compulsion. The mind is tired, exhausted, not to mention untrained and uncontrolled. It cannot concentrate.                                                            
 Why do you need dopamine detox?                                                                                                              When you see something like all the likes on a picture you shared or cute cat videos, your brain releases a chemical, dopamine, that rewards your action.        Dopamine is a chemical produced by our brain that plays a key role in motivating behaviour. It is released when we taste delicious food, have sex, exercise and, importantly, when we have successful social interactions. In an evolutionary context, it rewards us for beneficial behaviours and motivates us to repeat them.                                                                            
Distraction finds and chaotic accumulation of information negatively affects our memory, learning and concentration.                                                        
That's why I recommend mindfulness meditation.                                                                  
With it we strengthen the neurological structures in our brain. And this includes already existing structures, such as those mentioned above. This can help you enormously in business.                                  
How many times have you gone to bed and couldn't fall asleep because certain songs, commercials, conversations or even scenarios kept popping into your mind against your will? This is nothing more than a symptom of an untrained mind that can't focus. Your mind is asking you to solve this problem.                   
Control your mind, control your life...                                                                                                           When you have the strength to quiet your mind, you will be calm. When you're calm, you'll sleep much faster, and the quality of your sleep will be better, which is also good for your health. Another benefit is that you will have control over your thoughts and emotions. The mind needs as much focus as a laser.                                    
When you practice it every day, you will learn to "quiet your mind" for longer periods of time. At first, this can be extremely difficult, as thoughts will continually come into your head. Before you know it, you'll be thinking about something again. You shouldn't beat yourself up, as this is very normal and even for advanced practitioners, some meditation sessions may not go as well as usual. Continue to calm your mind and concentrate. Patience and persistence is the key to everything.                                        
You will have a better memory, process information better and thus understand it better, your concentration will increase, you will control your thoughts and emotions and be able to cope with stressful situations much better. And your cognitive process improves.                  
In today's society, we already have overwhelming access to information. And a distracted mind can spell disaster for many things.

You can do easy things to improve your life, like controlling the notifications on your smart devices. Remove notifications or put them on silent. My only notifications are phone calls and messages related to the Freeconomy brand, everything else is turned off.   Only what's productive.

Summary:

Bad news is that you can control nothing but your thoughts. Good news is that with your thoughts you can control everything else.
